How often should I repaint exterior surfaces?
A good paint job should last 8 years, however the sun can impact the sunny side of the house and dry it out so consider redoing the sunny side of the house at 4 years. The siding would thank you for replenishing the moisture in dry siding surfaces.

Should I buy my own paint or let Mark buy the paint for me?
This is an area where I feel I can save my clients some money. Many times I can get a really good price on a 5 gallon purchase of paint on top of a price discount. I would honestly say that having me buy your paint will save you money!

Does my siding and trim need 1 or 2 coats of paint?
Most siding can get by with 1 coat of paint mainly because I am using a roller to apply the paint and using the brush to get the underneath lip. The roller is able to apply a higher volume of paint which should fill in the cracks or grooves of most sidings. Trim, doors, and garage doors will often require 2.

What is the cost of a gallon of paint?
Exterior paint is slightly more expensive than interior paint. Exterior paint is usually within the $35-$70 range. I am not usually able to find a low priced contractor grade exterior paint.

What type of finish should I use?
Most exterior sidings are painted flat including trim, soffits, facia and garage doors. The exterior doors should have a harder finish either an eggshell or satin to withstand the traffic of coming and going.
